Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and who sees it. Questions? Email jobmarketbc.payments@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name or business name, your email, and your password. Your password is scrambled before it's saved, so we can't read it.
- If you're looking for work: your job, years of experience, city, when you can work, your skills, and what you write about yourself. If you pick a resume file, we currently keep only the file's name, not the file.
- Your phone number, only if you add it: we use it so a business can call you about an interview you confirmed, and for nothing else.
- If you're hiring: your job postings, your plan, and your interview details, such as the address, meeting link or phone number you give.
- Card details: your card number goes straight to Square, our payment company. We never see or store it. We keep only the card type and its last 4 digits.
- Activity on the site: the jobs you apply to, your application status, and your interviews. We also keep a copy of the emails we send you.
Why we use it
- To run your account and match workers with jobs.
- To send messages about your account, such as interview invites, reminders and password resets.
- To bill businesses for their plan.
- To keep the site safe, for example by locking a login after too many wrong passwords.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use your email to advertise to you.
Who can see it
- Businesses you apply to can see your name and resume, and your interview details. They can't see your email through the site. Your phone number stays locked until a business invites you to an interview and you confirm. Then that business can see it, so it can call you.
- Workers can see the job postings businesses publish, and the interview details a business sends them.
- Companies that help us run the site: Cloudflare (hosting and our database), Square (payments), Resend (email) and Anthropic (the AI that fixes the writing in the resume answers and job descriptions you type). They only get what they need to do that job. Some of them may store information outside Canada.
- The law: we'll share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll delete your information, except anything we must keep by law, such as billing records.
Your choices
- See or fix your information: you can change your resume answers any time on the My Resume page. You can also email us to ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Delete your account: email us from your account's email address. We'll answer within 30 days.
If you're not happy with how we handled your information, email us first. You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Keeping it safe
The site uses secure connections, scrambled passwords, and automatic log-out after 30 minutes of doing nothing. No website can promise perfect security. If a breach could seriously harm you, we'll tell you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
